Energy Transition Navigators

Your guide to clean energy opportunities in Illinois

Energy Transition Navigators (ET Navigators) connect people, communities, and employers with opportunities in Illinois' growing clean energy economy.

As part of the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) ecosystem, ET Navigators help community members and organizations access training, employment, and business programs that support a more equitable transition to clean energy.

ET Navigators . . .

  • Share information about clean energy and CEJA programs, including workforce training
  • Recruit and provide the initial screening of participants for training, job, and business opportunities
  • Build relationships with community organizations, employers, and other groups across Illinois

Whether you're looking to join a training program or hire trained clean energy professionals, ET Navigators are here to help.

Who CEJA Programs Serve
CEJA workforce training and contractor programs focus on supporting individuals and communities historically left out of clean energy opportunities.

Programs prioritize:
  • Residents of Equity Investment Eligible Communities, such as:
    • R3 (Restore, Reinvest, Renew) areas (View Map)
    • Environmental Justice (EJ) communities (View Map)
  • Individuals who are:
    • Currently or formerly part of the foster care system
    • Formerly incarcerated

These eligibility criteria ensure that CEJA invests in people and communities most impacted by climate change and economic inequality.

Key Benefits to Employers

Employers can connect with an ET Navigator to gain access to participants who have completed the CEJA programs and are ready to begin entry-level positions with clean energy employers. Employers may also find qualified workers through the Illinois Power Agency’s Energy Workforce Equity Portal.
