  1. After reviewing the new NOFO, we’d like to submit 2 requests: 1 for Chicagoland; and 1 for the Joliet/Will County area, even though they’re both in the Northeastern IL region. Is this acceptable?

Yes, you can submit two different grants even when they are located within the same Economic Development Region. Based on what you mentioned, you are planning to serve two different geographic areas.
  2. How do we find out if the agency we wish to work with is an approved IL Works high school program. If we pursued a dual credit/concurrent credit program with our community college, would that qualify?

We are the ones that determine if the program is an approved High School program. If you submit an application that proposes to serve High School students, and it is recommended to be funded by the evaluators, and we give the organization a grant, then the program becomes an approved High School-based program. You can partner with a community college to deliver your program, but all Illinois Works standards, including curricula, must be followed and met.
  3. How do you submit this grant? Via Amplifund or is there another portal?

The grant request/proposal in response to the Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program NOFO is due on 8/30/24 at 5:30 pm. It is submitted using the Smartsheet link provided on Page 21 of the NOFO document.
  4. In our preparation for the grant application we have identified two student populations that this could help. Would you recommend us writing for 2 separate grants?

You can include both programs in the same application being careful to differentiate the curricula, length, certifications, etc., for each of them—that includes making those differences in the actual proposal and the required attachments and budget.
