Purpose: Training providers use this tool to allow customers to assess their knowledge or ability of essential employability skills. The categories directly correlate with the Worksite Evaluation. This assessment is available for anyone using Illinois workNet. This evaluation provides the program partner a baseline level from the participants' perspective as a starting point for education and evaluation.

Expectations:
  • The customer accesses and completes the evaluation (< 5 min/customer).
  • Partner may review the skills rubric to help the customer select an answer. The rubric covers ten skills:
    • Computer Literacy
    • Attendance and Dependability
    • Self-Presentation
    • Communication Skills
    • Independence and Initiative
    • Teamwork
    • Positive Attitude
    • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking
    • Work Ethic
    • Quality of Work
  • Customers practice skills during their training just as they would at their jobs.

Results:
  • The self-evaluation does not have a grading component.
  • If the customer takes the self-evaluation more than once, the results are stored in the customer's profile within the Customer Support Center.
  • The customer's assessment section includes a report tracking the initial self-evaluation, the most recent self-evaluation, the initial worksite evaluation, and the final worksite evaluation. This allows the customer to discuss their level of demonstration of the Essential Employability Skills.
