IEBS - Event Management

  1. How do I filter on the Search Layoff to see an LWIA’s Local Events only?

    The correct filter is labeled; Layoff Type. This is a dropdown menu, select Local.  Next, scroll down and find the blue Area Filter, which has options for City/County/LWIA/EDR/Region.  Click on LWIA, then location the filter labeled, LWIA. This is a dropdown menu, select the appropriate LWIA by clicking on it.​​

IEBS - General

  1. What is IEBS?

    IEBS stands for the Illinois Employer Business System. It is a repository for company information and at this time layoffs associated with those companies. We continue to expand and grow the functions associated with IEBS. 
  2. What is WARN

    WARN stands for Worker Adjustment and Retraining and Notification Act of 1988.  29 U.S. Code Chapter 23​ It is a type of layoff recognized in Illinois.​

IEBS - Policy

  1. What is the difference between local and state layoff

    Any layoff that has 25 or more workers impacted, is a State layoff. Any event with 24 or fewer is a local event.  Policy 9-1.1.​​
